Genius is a payment platform designed to remove the complexity of payments and compliance from point-of-sale (POS) systems. The system is comprised of a consumer facing hardware device (typically seen at major retailers) and a cloud based terminal management system that controls all aspects of the device. The POS is completely abstracted from the payment flow and simply requests an amount to be collected and is told the result.
Why is this important? With EMV on the horizon and 130+ mobile wallets and alternative payment methods such as Paypal, ISIS and LevelUp on the rise, POS developers and integrators are stuck in the middle trying to figure out which ones will succeed and which will fail. By integrating Genius, they no longer have that problem since Genius can get new payment types injected into it remotely without affecting the POS integration. The result? A POS system with extendable payments types with no effort from the POS vendor.
Ow and as a bonus I threw in an IP interface (XML/JSON) so even web and tablet based POS systems can integrate it in a snap. Have you tried plugging a serial cable into an iPad lately? Not fun... trust me.
